IMBIE 2025 Assessment Released
The IMBIE team is pleased to announce the release of the IMBIE 2025 Assessment, a comprehensive analysis of ice sheet contributions to global sea level rise covering the period from 1992 to 2024. This report represents the most complete multi-decadal record of Greenland and Antarctic ice sheet mass balance ever produced.
The assessment draws on data from over 50 satellite missions and synthesises estimates from three complementary measurement techniques: satellite altimetry, gravimetry, and the input-output method. The combined dataset confirms an accelerating trend in ice loss over the study period, with the rate of combined ice sheet mass loss increasing by 280% since the early 1990s.
